"Quality Police Through a Tradition of Ecxellence"

                      ATV Patrol

The town of Acushnet has recently acquired two Yamaha 660 Grizzly ATV's.  These ATV's were purchased with grant money, this means that these ATVs were purchased at no cost to the town.  These ATVs will serve many roles in the town.  These ATVs will be able to be used by all Town Departments who need them and who have had the proper training.  The ATVs will mainly be used by the Acushnet Police Department, The Acushnet Fire Department and Acushnet EMS.

Several Acushnet Police Officers will receive training so that these ATVs can be used properly.  These newly trained officers will then make up an ATV unit that can be deployed at any time for searching for missing and endangered children, elderly or injured individuals.  These ATVs will also be used for SEMLEC our regional response team.  Once trained the ATV unit will utilize these ATVs to actively patrol areas that our police cruisers cannot access.

The Acushnet Police Department has received multiple complaints from private landowners in town requesting that we try to put a stop to those who are illegally riding on private and public property.  With the acquisition of these ATVs the Acushnet Police Department is well equipped to satisfy the needs of our growing community.  If you would like to request that we patrol your privately owned land or have any questions, comments or concerns  please E-Mail Sergeant Thomas Carreau at Tcarreau@acushnetpd.com.  You can also call the station at 1-508-998-0240 24 hours, days 7 days a week.
