Firearms Information

Pistol Permits and FID Applications will be accepted on a walk in basis only during the
following hours. The hours are subject to change.

Monday 4:30pm -12:30am

Wednesday 4:30pm -12:30am

Thursday 4:30pm -12:30am

Friday 4:30pm -10:00pm

Applicants MUST have the following documentation with them when turning in their application:

Completed Firearms License Application Checklist. (click file folder to download)

Completed application (Application can be downloaded in PDF format from the LTC/FID Forms menu above) Form must be completely filled out and signed.

Photo Identification: Driver's License (1 copy)

Proof of U.S. Citizenship: Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate. (1 copy)

Proof of Acushnet residency or place of business: (1 copy) Credit card bill, Voter registration, Utility bill.

$100 check payable to "Town of Acushnet." No cash will be accepted.

State approved Firearms Safety Course for the permit that you are requesting. (1 copy)

NOTE: Not required for issuance of "Restricted FID": mace/pepper spray.

Letter(s) to Detective Bolarinho outlining the reason why you are in the need of the License to Carry Firearms other than for Hunting and Target Practice. If the license is for employment (Armed Security, Carrying Large Sums of Money, Constable) include a signed letter from your employer on official letterhead outlining the reasons why you need to carry.

NOTE: Letters are not required for FID cards
