Firearms Information

Due to Budget Cuts and unfilled vacancies the Acushnet Police Department is no longer able to provide the town with a dedicated Firearms Detective. Detective James Costa has been assigned the added responsibility. Wait times for LTC's and FID Cards will be longer. Due to issues beyond our control appointments will be necessary and no walk ins will be accepted.

Pistol Permits and FID Applications will be accepted by appointment only!

Only completed applications will be accepted (Applications can be downloaded in PDF format from the LTC/FID Forms button below) Form must be completely filled out and signed.

Letter(s) to Chief Michael Alves must outline the reason why you are in the need of the License to Carry Firearms other than for Hunting and Target Practice. If the license is for employment (Armed Security, Carrying Large Sums of Money, Constable) include a signed letter from your employer on official letterhead outlining the reasons why you need to carry pistol.
